Brains & Beauty: Meet The Creators!
Candace Bushnell and Amy Harris are the writers for the show. Both women share a similar past in the television series production world.
Candace Bushnell
A critically acclaimed, international best-selling author, best known for her Sex and the City series, Bushnell’s resume is consistent and enviable. Her other work includes Summer and the City, The Carrie Diaries, One Fifth Avenue, Lipstick Jungle, Trading Up, and Four Blondes. Most of her work fits kindly into the same theme: women, drama, fashion, sex, and of course, life in the city, all of which she has had first-hand experience with.
After growing up in Gastonbury, CT, Bushnell moved to New York City when she was 19. She attended Rice University and New York University. At 19, she began her career as a writer. Through her twenties, she worked as a freelancer writing edgy, daring comedic pieces about women, dating, and relationships for Mademoiselle, Self Magazine, and Esquire. Her resume of work has both influenced and in a way recorded the modern day woman for two generations.
In 1994, while Bushnell was writing for the New York Observer, she created the column “Sex and the City”, which ran in the magazine for two years. In 1995, the column was bought as a book and sold to HBO as a television series in 1996. Thus was the beginning of the infamous empire, the Sex and the City series, which is the origin of the new show The Carrie Diaries.

Amy B. Harris
As a former associate producer for Sex and the City and Gossip Girl, Amy Harris has had her fair share of dramedy television. With the Carrie Diaries now under her belt, she will surely continue to see her successes remain constant well into the future. She is both a talented producer and writer with an impressive resume of work in both television and film.
She graduated from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and is currently residing in New York City. I searched for more information in regards to the path that paved the way to her career, but I could not find as much personal information as I had hoped for. However, I did find her on Twitter! 🙂
